With respect to granite, a cut and polished stone, quarried from different parts of the world, the surface is sandblasted to produce the desired images and lettering. The sandblasted images are then inlayed with paint to create a contrast from the granite's natural color.
Its Aging
Eventually the surface loses luster due to acid rain, lawn mower blades that scratch the surface, and reclaimed water used by the cemetery.
